The first week of Training begins with very simple sequences, combined with lots of physical practice which is focused on strength building. Students gain great understanding of the importance of dynamic functional movement as we move through this exciting, highly productive first week.
Week II builds upon the solid foundation created in Week I. The effective language that good teachers use to cue in classes becomes ‘second nature’ as we emphasize ‘cuing practice’ as a big part of each day. It’s powerful to witness students coming into ease with the ‘poetry of the teaching practice’.
Each week throughout the course carries tremendous learning. In just under a month, students are amazed by how much they develop & learn.
Studio Director Joy Morrell has studied yoga for 50 years. Joy’s depth of compassion and intuitive teaching style enriches the Training experience beyond measure. Joy teaches Therapeutics, Alignment & Yoga Anatomy in such a way that even students with little anatomy background are absorbed into the world of biomechanics with enthusiasm & ease. Students coming to Training with anatomy backgrounds are equally delighted by the fresh delivery & Yoga specific postural anatomy woven throughout the course.
Avalon Funk has led our Yoga Trainings here at Shanti since 2013. Avalon thrills students with her creative, enthusiastic teaching style. With 18,000 hours as a public class Yoga Instructor & 10,000 as a Lead Teacher Training Instructor, Avalon ‘s teaching is seamless and powerful. Pairing her great cuing with inspiring sequences, students soon recognize that studying with Avalon is learning from the very best. With advanced Degrees in Exercise Science, a Master Certification as a Personal Trainer & Sports Nutritionist, Avalon’s true passion is working with both professional athletes & Yogis to improve performance, practice & longevity. YOGA SCULPT TRAINING
Yoga Sculpt has quickly become a very popular drop in class. Our Sculpt classes blend the best of Pilates mat work, Power Vinyasa inspired movement and Yoga Sculpt, all set to an awesome playlist. These classes are designed to strengthen the core and create lean muscle definition. This Training is perfect for the student looking for inspiration for their home workout or Yoga Teachers looking for a more powerful class offering.

Advance your practice. Transform your teaching. This is by far our most popular Graduate Training. Avalon applies her powerful alignment guidelines to Level II postures and transitions. Expect to gain tools to teach highly effective, more advanced classes. Learn safe & inspiring sequences as well as balanced full spectrum classes. With every practice over these three days, you will integrate exciting Level II postures and practice the art of smooth, powerful transitions.

Spend a wonderful weekend immersed in the blissful world of Yin Yoga. Joy Morrell co-teaches this weekend Immersion with Sarah Story. Combining Joy’s intuitive teaching style with Sarah’s remarkable Yin teaching, this course provides teachers the tools to teach safe and effective Yin Yoga classes, and provides students who love Yin a weekend of deep stretch & calm centering.
